At Garden Pool, we strive to help establish food security locally through the seed library program and now we’re bringing food security to some of the most affected countries of the Caribbean.
Many of you have heard about the recent hurricanes that devastated the Caribbean Islands in early September. With category 5 storms and wind speeds over 150 mph, these hurricanes hit the tiny islands hard, damaging nearly 95% of their infrastructure and leaving some parts almost uninhabitable. It has been completely shattering to these people in many ways.
Garden Pool has been invited to go to some of the most devastated islands including Antigua, Barbuda, Dominica and St. Kitts to distribute seeds to these countries and help regrow the communities. Garden Pool will dispatch a two person team and partner with local partners to distribute seeds as well as information gained through our experience with the public seed library program. This will be just our first step in rebuilding and bringing new growth and food development to these areas.
We’re asking you to donate to our International Hurricane Recovery Fund, which will go entirely to the countries most affected.
